Cisco CCNA Certification
Wednesday, April 29, 2009
Certification is a formal process of making certain that an individual is qualified in terms of particular knowledge or a skill. Certification programs are often fostered or supervised by some certifying agency, such as a professional association. Best thing is anyone can do it online.
Certification embraces not only the workforce; it touches the whole of IT technologies, business methodologies and corporate practices. It does set the tone of professionalism in IT fields. My recommendation is this: Keep your knowledge and skills updated through certification and re-certification and have a claim to know your area(s) of interest in depth.
For those who are interested, K Alliance is one of the best sources that can help in many ways. K Alliance is offering CCNA certification training in different formats like Videos on CD / DVD, Online and Network Deployable. Training video covers basic mitigation of security threats, introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology, and performance-based skills, as well as the use of these protocols: IP, Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Serial Line Interface Protocol Frame Relay, Routing Information Protocol Version 2 (RIPv2),VLANs, Ethernet and access control lists (ACLs).
Have a look at their resource rich site to learn about Cisco CCNA Online / CBT Training Course and make an informed learning decision.

Tweety Twitter Tests
Tuesday, April 28, 2009
eMarketer projects that the number of Twitter users will jump to 18.1 million in 2010, representing 10.8% of Internet users.
comScore reported that Twitter.com drew 4 million unique visitors from home, work and college/university locations in February 2009, up from 340,000 a year earlier—a 1,086% increase.
Nielsen Online reported 7 million unique visitors to Twitter.com during the month, up even higher—1,381%—from 475,000 the prior year.
comScore also reported a surge in March. After months of double-digit growth, traffic to Twitter.com accelerated 131% to 9.3 million visitors for the month.
And the number of Twitter users is considerably greater than the number of visitors to Twitter.com, as a result of the multiple access points for the service (for example, mobile devices and desktop apps).
A survey of Twitter users from MarketingProfs backs Mr. Williams’ views. On a scale from 1 to 5 (with 1 for strongly disagree and 5 and for strongly agree), the phrase “I find it exciting to learn new things from people” averaged a score of 4.65 and “I value getting information in a timely manner” averaged 4.58.

Steli Efti - A Learning Lunatic
Tuesday, April 21, 2009
What is a blog to you? Well, for me a blog is a wonderful, magical and powerful tool to learn. I started with a very business oriented approach to blogging. I had this idea of Supercool School and as an unexercised Internet user it was the easiest and fastest way to do some important homework and get some real-life feedback. I used my blog as a very raw (and free) market research and alpha testing tool.
After that I started the project and kept my blog simply as a place for random thoughts and ideas. I didn’t know anything about the true beauty and power of blogging back then. I used to stand upon the roundtable to blog and talked to an audience instead of joining the conversations in the bloggosphere. Now, it’s so much more fun to blog and it has become even more then a learning tool - it’s a great way to find new friends!
How do I blog? I still have to figure it out for myself. What I can say is that I daily check my reader, my thoughts and the activity on my blog (comments, visitors, back links) and then decide what to write. I am very hard to myself when it comes to quality of content and writing something that I am happy with in the end is probably my biggest time-eater (I guess I’m not alone with this ;). I believe I have to learn how to be more effective with my blogging because I likely won’t have the same amount of time for it after SupercoolSchool.com has launched.
And how do I plan to become a better and more effective blogger? A big wonder, a little magic and some power is all I’m asking for ;) Some prominent links from my blog I want to share?

The Ambivalent Blogger
Thursday, April 9, 2009
I started to blog at the end of 2005 because I was relaunching my career as a children’s book writer and needed to create an online home for my stories and talk about my adventures as a writing parent.
But, I didn’t easily take easily to blogging. It feels too much like running naked up the street while the neighbors watch, and then sitting down for a drink with them afterwords.
Not that my subject matter is raunchy. My blog narrowly focuses on writing and parenting, and events that influence both aspects of my life.
My blogging style depends on my mood. Sometimes I do newsy posts, either based on hard news/current affairs events/ events in my life/ linking to articles on the Internet. Sometimes I wake up ready to change the world or die trying, and I do social commentary. I also post children’s stories. Recently, I added short reviews of children’s books.
I am still learning how to network online and form/join social communities. The problem is that I’m very shy about the fact that I blog. I am concerned about exposing too much personal info online (and possibly alienating my business readers).
Then there is the fact that blogging feels too much like self-promotion. Yes I know it is, but I was raised with the view that self-promotion is extremely rude. We even have a rude word for self-promoters. So I told a couple of friends about the blog, and used it mostly to refer editors to view samples of my writing, but I didn’t publicize it.
Despite my failure to take this important step, many business associates found out about it. Some of them have casually mentioned that they are aware I blog/ enjoyed my posts and stories. Some of them even send me media statements or links to online articles they know I will find interesting. “Grist for your blog,” they say.
I find their response encouraging, and each positive response is affirmation that I should keep blogging. The positive feedback has also encouraged me to start promoting the blog.
Despite this tension I feel about blogging, I see it as an important aspect of social interaction today. A couple of months ago a visitor to my blog emailed me to say hello. We exchanged a few emails, I read some of her articles, liked her work so much I suggested she pitch one of my editors for some freelance work.
My editor saw the pitch and samples and asked if the young lady would be interested in taking on a full time writing/moderating job on a citizen portal the company was launching. She started working for the company at the end of May. She says my blog helped her land her dream job.
That incident helped me appreciate the impact a blog can have on people/their careers/views/lives. It has made me determined to use my blog to have a positive impact on the world, one reader at a time.

Women in Ads
Now, a new change is coming in. Feminist Naomi Wolf says that the beauty myth isn't good for men or women. "It prevents (men) from actually seeing women... in suggesting a vision in place of a woman, it has a numbing effect, reducing all sense but the visual..."
That's a fairly poignant statement regarding the numbification of society because marketing images portray impossible-to-achieve beauty and the representation of women as playthings.

What is a blog to you?
Internet is a lonely place without Blogging; a fine art, science, also economics. Blogs are different to different people. Fine Art of Blogging asks you to share your views on what is a blog to you?
Please contribute your thoughts on blogging in general. In particular, write how you blog? Why? How blogging matters in life and work? Success stories and inspirations. Answer these questions and more (add what you feel is important dimension for you) and email me.
Fine Art Claimer
My blogs are a resource for my writings. More often, I blog informally, sharing impressions, generating ideas to see how they invoke reactions, keeping track of others’ work in the fields of my interest, or simply ranting or pointing out things that come to my attention.
Also, I use blogging as a platform to prune ideas. This is where I meet others and share experiences. “I am neither geek, nor nerd, I am not a hacker, a phreaker, a programmer or any variety of technoid dweeb.”
