It’s hard to give a direct answer to this question. It’s hard because there is so much to say, there are so many traits to analyze and so many answers to give. What is a blog? A tool to boost your business? A dream? A mirror of the heart? A different world where even the shyest person can feel strong? A place where everything is possible and where you feel like a demiurge ready to create a new universe through words of wonder?

What is a blog to you? An open question…

I’d like to think at eWritings as the mirror of my soul. But many will argue that, because it is a business blog. Well, my business, my work, is a part of my soul. And my business blog represents my strongest beliefs, my knowledge and shares them, opens them to the world, gives them back to (hopefully) enrich the Web, this place of wonders where we all learn, communicate and meet amazing people. Blogging has made me a better person and a better professional. I’ve learnt from other bloggers enough to consider myself fortunate and to know that if not for blogging, I wouldn’t know half the things I know about people, social media, SEO and even public relations.

It would be really easier to answer what a blog is not. And I’d like to do that, because you talk here about “the fine art of blogging”. A blog should not be a place of malice and hate. A blog should not promote negative values and be used to denigrate other people and other businesses. A blog should not be aimed against other beliefs (including religious). A blog should not be… evil.

As a blogger, I had my share of ups and downs, and I think the future will bring even more. I’m not what you might call a “guru blogger”. Although eWritings is quite popular (especially if we consider that I don’t advertise it) I am a young blogger. I’ve only started to blog on regular basis since November last year. Back then I didn’t aim to build a community, connect with other bloggers and become a professional blogger. eWritings was planed more as a newsletter for my clients than as a blog. But in time… I’ve got addicted to blogging. Here, another definition. A blog is addiction. And now, blogging is freedom.

Freedom comes when you meet twin souls, when you see that other bloggers think alike and are driven by similar dreams. Freedom is to feel the passion that inspires other writers give. Freedom is reading stories written by real people, knowing their hopes and fears, being able to be there when they need your support, being able to encourage them or to be happy with them. These are the “highest” blogging points. There are millions of blogs on the Web. Literally. And if we start browsing we’ll discover as many drops of absolute. I hope one day a philanthropist will sponsor a bloggers encyclopedia and collect at least some of the most inspiring entries, to enrich the offline world with the “fine art of blogging”.

Young can be "guru" too. What ever I can see in this post and your blogs indicate your blogging strength. Thanks Dio for introducing her to me.

Please contribute your thoughts on blogging in general. In particular, write how you blog? Why? How blogging matters in life and work? Success stories and inspirations. Answer these questions and more (add what you feel is important dimension for you) and email me.

Fine Art Claimer

My blogs are a resource for my writings. More often, I blog informally, sharing impressions, generating ideas to see how they invoke reactions, keeping track of others’ work in the fields of my interest, or simply ranting or pointing out things that come to my attention.

Also, I use blogging as a platform to prune ideas. This is where I meet others and share experiences. “I am neither geek, nor nerd, I am not a hacker, a phreaker, a programmer or any variety of technoid dweeb.”
